M 1931

In the film M, it was very interesting seeing how people actions when something really bad happen in a small town. The scene that i choose was the part were "The Murdered" was looking around town, it seem to be like a small mall with stores. He was just looking around and threw the mirror he seen a little girl that was looking inside a store, she was outside just looking into the store. As soon as he seen the little girl it was like a drug that he knew was at the tip of his hands and he could just grave it and take it. He couldn't stop looking at her, so he started following her. she was along, it was like this great opportunity for him to talk his bate. In his face you can see something taking over him, like he couldn't control it. After a few minute of following the little girl, she turns in a corner and see her mother, then he hides really fast when he see the little girl mother. He see the little girl and the mother walk away, he looked so mad and angry.

I choose this scene because it was so intense seeing how upset he got when the little girl saw her mother. It was like the plan he created in his mind got destroy. During this time mental illness was not something people see everyday. So the fact that there was a psychopath in town, it was not hard to know there was a murderer in town, but it was hard to know that the person had a metal illness. Because as he said at the end, it was something he couldn't control, the fire, the voices in his head. Like i have always say before the mind is a power tool that can make a person do crazy things, but then again what guarantee us that we are not crazy our self.

CABARET SONGS

"The Lavender Song"(Das Lila Lied), music by Mischa Spoliansky, lyrics by Kurt Schwabach (1920).

[English ]
What makes them think they have the right to say what God considers vice
What makes them think they have the right to keep us out of Paradise
They make our lives hell here on Earth
poisoning us with guilt and shame
If we resist, prison awaits so our love dares not speak its name
The crime is when love must hide
From now on we'll love with pride

[German]
Was will man nur?
denn wir sind alle andrer Welten Kind;
wir lieben nur die lila Nacht, die schwül ist,
weil wir ja anders als die andern sind.

My interpretation of this part is that at this time 1920 in Germany people weren't  able to make their own decisions. Specially during this time of WAR, people had to live in this horrifying life if they wanted to be alive. It seems as if people were shame because of thing they had to do during this time such as kill another people because of Hitler believe it was the right thing to do, there was only two choices with him kill or be killed. Love was lost!! People will see darkness, feel darkness, be darkness. People was consume with darkness and to dare feel compassion for someone and be destroy, because their is something higher then love and it was their duty for the country.

"Chuck Out the Men" (Raus mit den Männern), by Friedrich Hollaender (1926)

[English]
The battle for emancipation's been raging since history began
Yes, feminists of every nation want to chuck off the chains made by man
Hula girls and housemaids and wives in Maribou
hear all our voices thunder in protest
Anything that men do women can do too
and more that that we women do it best

Women being treated like an object has been around for centuries. Man treading and assuming women cant be good for anything other then being housewife's or a "baby maker machine" needed to change. The stigma that women couldn't work, could go to school, they could vote was the way men thought about women. They weren't allow do anything and something needed to be done. Women needed to stand together to make this change happen. It didn't matter what type of women, rich, poor, middle class women, because it didn't matter what category you was in, you as a women didn't have a voice.

PARAGRAPH 175

A man that had sexual activities with another man was to be punish by the law, so it was basically not permitted. As well as a man that let another man used him for sexual activities, but in that case I think it will be more of a prostitution action. The punishment was more extreme if the person committing the act was with a minor, in which this case is more understandable because a minor don't have an appropriate age to consent sexual act.

PARAGRAPH 175A

The most extreme penalty for any broken laws that apply to a sexual act was 10years. However there was at least a penalty of three months in prison for committing a sexual or letting someone abuse in such sexual. If a person over 21 years old seduces a minor to act on sexual behaviors or if the person was in a relationship that is being abuse for sexual services. As well as a man that was not a shame to be sexual open about their sexuality. It seem like anything that had to do with a men having sex with another man was consider a crime.

PARAGRAPH 175B

The sexual act from a human to a animal was consider a crime. If this act was committed the person civil right was taken away. Being that a person was willing to act on such horrifying act there was no compassion on how the law was going to penalizes.

This article relate to the class because during this time being gay was a huge issue that was consider a mental illness and a crime. so the WAR was not the only problem for people having to deal with such penalties for liking the same sex was a big problem as well.

The Cabinet Of Dr. Caligari

The scene that  was interesting to me was when Dr. Caligari was in this office and the doctors and Francis has enter the room with a body cover in a black blanket over the body. Francis approaches Dr. caligari so he can take a look at who is under the black blanket. As Dr. caligari get close to the body, Francis take the blanket of the body and is Casera dead. Dr. caligari cant believe what he is seeing and drop down to his kneed, then he look at everybody that is surrounding him and look at Casera again. Dr. caligari snaps and try to kill one of the doctor in the room by choking the doctor, all the others doctor stop him from doing this and he tries again to choke the doctor that is in front of him. He dosent seem like picking a specific person to do a harm to, he just seems mad enough to harm who ever is in front of him. As the doctors and Francis see that Dr. caligari has lost his mind they grab him and put a resistances jacket that will stop him from moving or trying to grab anyone with his hand. They take him to a room were he lances down and since he cant move they live hi there.

what i interpreted from this seen was that Dr. caligari when crazy after seeing the only person that always listen to his commends was dead. This means that Dr. caligari wasent expecting to see Casera dead specially after so many years of Dr. caligari protecting Casera specially since Casera was the person who was committing the murders.

I chose this scene because it show how a "normal" person or what people may think is normal only has to have a small event in life or mark that can drive them to go crazy. Sometimes is hard to deal with such things in life that some people are not strong enough to deal with it. I believe this relate to the class because during the WW1 and WW2 Hitler was the most hated man in that time and maybe until this day but as him being a big reason why these WAR WORLD started was because he create this crazy idea that Jewish people needed to die for what ever reason he thought was good enough to kill a human. So it all starts with one person and how their mind can make them do such things.

SIDDHARTHA

"Indeed his soul was not with the trade. The business was good enough to provide him with the money for Kamala, and it earned him much more than he needed. Besides from this, Siddhartha's interest and curiosity was only concerned with the people, whose businesses, crafts, worries, pleasures, and acts of foolishness used to be as alien and distant to him as the moon. However easily he succeeded in talking to all of them, in living with all of them, in learning from all of them, he was still aware that there was something which separated him from them and this separating factor was him being a Samana. He saw mankind going through life in a childlike or animallike manner, which he loved and also despised at the same time. He saw them toiling, saw them suffering, and becoming gray for the sake of things which seemed to him to entirely unworthy of this price, for money, for little pleasures, for being slightly honoured, he saw them scolding and insulting each other, he saw them complaining about pain at which a Samana would only smile, and suffering because of deprivations which a Samana would not feel."

The meaning of this passage is that a person that is new to an environment can adapt to the new environment depending on the person ability to get him/her self involve with people. However a person ability of adapting themselves to a new environment doesn't mean that the person enjoy the experience. A person that has been in a society where everything is "calm" or everything that surround the person is build by a specific system where everything is always the same and having a change of society and environment can make a person view thing in such a dramatic way as if they are a different person because of the change.

This passage is important to me because it show how this "Man" Siddhartha has the ability to get involve with anybody he come across to, he also has the ability of learning without a problem, he has the ability to be care free of certain things like (Money) that a normal person or a person that doesn't have it wouldn't be care free about. Is more interesting in people actions then in how good his life is. He see people as these weird creatures that have so many defection and still manage to survive.  He will be able to love them and be despised which made him be more curious about people. Because he would see things that he couldn't feel, thing that he couldn't explain to him self why is this person feeling that or acting like that, thing that were unknown to him. In this world you would say that he doesn't need anything because he already has it all but this also show me that a person can have everything they wanted in life and still have an emptiness in them. That maybe there is something worst then not having anything is not feeling anything.
